Garage Door Servicing & Maintenance
A garage door opens and closes thousands of times a year. A yearly service catches worn parts before they fail, keeps the door quiet and balanced, and adds years to the life of both the door and the motor.
What a service covers
- Check and adjust spring tension and door balance
- Inspect lift cables, drums, bearings and pulleys
- Clean and treat tracks, rollers and hinges
- Tighten loose brackets, bolts and hinges
- Test the opener's force settings and auto-reverse
- Check and align safety beams
- Inspect weather seals and the bottom rail
- A written note of anything that needs attention soon
How often should a garage door be serviced?
Once a year suits most homes. If the garage is your main entry, the door runs many times a day, or you live close to the water where salt air speeds up wear, every six months is worth considering.
Strata and multi-unit buildings
Shared car park doors and gates run far more cycles than a household door. We service strata doors on a regular schedule and can work with your building manager on access and records.

Common questions
Can I service my own garage door?
You can keep the tracks clean, check that the safety beams are clear and test the auto-reverse with a soft object. Anything involving springs, cables or tension should be left to a technician.
